A Doug's Life.

Stuff that wags my tail, makes me growl and everything in between.

July 2009 -  The Rush to Readiness

The list of things to complete before August arrived was getting away from me - out of control! However at some point I found my self on the final task: Enlarging the bedroom closet opening.

The closet actually has enough room for both his and hers clothes (once we committed to multiple trips to Goodwill). But the doorway was so frustratingly narrow.  The plan was to remove the door (it got moved to the office) then widen the closet opening by removing about 2 feet of wall.

Once complete - it made for such a nicer 'closet experience'!  I also added an overhead light for more visibility on those dark winter mornings.

I slowly picked away at the inner closet drywall to expose the framing, then re-framed for the new opening. I then removed the outer drywall.  Patched, painted then moved on to the trim.

Virginia wasn't too keen on having the contents of our closet posted on the world wide web.  So we have the 'frosted glass' effect instead.  We didn't want to show off our large rack of fur coats.  Yeah Right.

June Leftovers
I found a few nice photos from last month that I forgot to include. Our June was very cool, cloudy and rainy - unheard of for our area. But that didn't stop the cactus grove from sprouting their colorful spring blooms - or keep us from hiking up to enjoy them:

Check out the bee's  - one in each of these blossoms.
